CCSS has been in communication with our EMA Director about the safety of our roadways. As stated yesterday, we will be open for school tomorrow, Friday, January 24th. Please drive carefully.

Based on the current conditions, it’s not likely that Tuesday’s historic snowfall will melt away before temperatures drop again tonight, which could lead to unsafe road conditions for our buses and others Thursday morning. With safety in mind and out of an abundance of caution, CCSS will remain closed Thursday, January 23rd with plans to reopen Friday, January 24th.

Due to the anticipated impact from the winter storm in our area, Crisp County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 21st and Wednesday, January 22nd. This closure includes Crisp County Early Learning Academy. Please be safe and we hope to see everyone back at school on Thursday, January 23rd. As always, please stay abreast of the most updated information on the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

In response to the impact of the expected weather forecast and school closures, Crisp County Schools will be distributing meal bags today, Monday, January 20th at the old middle school main entrance area (1116 East 24th Avenue) from 12-2. These meals are for students ages 2-18. Students do not have to be present to pickup meals. More information about the expected school closures will be released after the 12:30 weather briefing with EMA officials.

We are monitoring the timing and magnitude of potential weather impacts for our community. We are relying on weather information from the National Weather Service and our local EMA Director. As always, you can also keep up with updates on the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office facebook page. Thanks for your patience.

Please be advised that CCSS will continue to closely monitor the weather situation for our area. At this time, and based on the latest weather briefing, the conditions are still uncertain. For this reason, we are continuing to monitor the safety of being on roadways in our area. At this time school will resume as normal. If conditions worsen we will send an update. As always, continue to monitor the Crisp County Sheriff Office facebook page for updates in addition to other reliable media sources. Thank you for your patience.

Please use extreme caution as you travel to schools this morning due to an accident on southbound I-75 at exit 99. Traffic is being diverted and will impact Frontage Road and Old Hatley Road so expect delays. Thank you

FUN FACTS, FUN FOOD!!!!!
Today is NATIONAL CHICKEN & WAFFLES DAY.
Chicken & Waffles established in the 1600s in Pennsylvania where they actually served it with pulled chicken and gravy. It wasn't until the 1930s that we saw what we know of Chicken & Waffles and this was served in New York.
Each school celebrated by making their form of Chicken & Waffles.
