The Crisp County School System is pleased to share that we are expanding opportunities for our students in need.

The Georgia Department of Education approved more than $15 million to support students in poverty, and $19.6 million to strengthen mental health services and support to Georgia school districts in Fiscal Year 2026.

CCSS is very grateful to have started receiving this funding in September 2025.

Lisa Simpson, the Director of Social Services, details how the funding is being used right here in Crisp County.

"Our team worked diligently to ensure that this funding would have the greatest possible impact for our students. After evaluating several companies, we have chosen to partner with ESE Mental Health LLC, a GADOE Pre-Approved Telehealth Vendor," Simpson explained. "As a South Georgia-based company, ESE offers several key strengths, including minimal staff turnover and a commitment to aiding in a whole-child approach."

The Department of Education highlighted this funding allocation in their November press release.

Superintendent Dr. Williams emphasizes how CCSS remains dedicated to doing everything it can for the betterment of students.

"As we move into the season of gratitude, I am especially thankful for new opportunities that allow us to better serve our students and families. This year, we are excited to announce that Crisp County Schools has been awarded Student Mental Health Service Grant funding, a tremendous step forward in strengthening the support we provide to our students," Dr. Williams said. "In a rural community like ours, where resources are often stretched thin, this funding represents hope, help, and possibility. Our dedicated team worked tirelessly to ensure these dollars will make the greatest impact where it matters most, which is our children."

Simpson says in a rural district with high poverty, where resources are often limited and overburdened, this will significantly enhance our support.
