On Thursday, members of the Crisp County School District had the exciting opportunity to participate in conversations centered on establishing a film production program in Cordele.
Organizations included the Georgia Film Academy, Albany State University, and the City of Cordele.
A tour was given through the Albany State University Cordele campus, located on 11th Avenue.
The potential location for a production facility, drone operation, and certification.
Scott Votaw, Assistant Vice Chancellor from GFA, led the tour.
CCSS Director of CTAE and Assessments Tara Shurley says she's excited that the district is exploring this opportunity.
“I look forward to the progress that we see with new and dynamic partnerships, building opportunities for our students," Shurley said. "Through innovation and this collaboration.”
If offered, it would expand courses for Crisp County students, focusing on visual/audio media, as well as film production.
Shurley, along with Superintendent Dr. Brandon Williams, commends the city of Cordele for their effort to make this possible.
